Students unscramble the words on each will to create a sentence. Each “wheel” contains a word with a capital letter to indicate the start of the sentence AND ending punctuation behind the word that should end the sentence.
You can hand out one sheet at a time or create a bundle.
The most excitement I experience teaching First Grade is when we begin our Letter Writing Unit. The children write real letters to friends and businesses then wait for their responses. It’s a load of fun and teaches authentically.
Included in this packet are directions for how to write post-cards, friendly letters, business letters, how to address envelopes, a template for use in your class for a business letter writing campaign and a letter to parents requesting the address of a friend or family member.
Directions included!!
Students find the beginning sound in each picture word, then put them together to determine the secret word. Fantastic beginning phoneme practice.

Simply print out the adorable kid-friendly cards, cut them out, toss them in a baggy and you’re good to go! These adorable cards present pairs of opposites. The pictures provide clues to the word meanings in case your early readers need help.
You will only need to print a few sets if you plan on using these in centers. OR you can print a class set and have students cut them out and glue onto construction paper- I might try that next year instead of the center (which my kids loved!).
Have your kids design their own cell phone case, respond to “texts” and develop their own emoji. I love this activity because it’s a great way to discuss the conventions of conversation.

A fun center for students who need a “hands-on” aspect to fluency practice. Have them use a magnifying glass to read the dolch words, then write them on the lines at the bottom of the page. All pre-primer, primer, first and second level words included.

Get kids started with Conventions of Print, Letter Recognition and Centers Routine.
Print, copy, slice right down the middle and staple! Voila!
I printed out and laminated the primer and first grade words. Then, set them up at a literacy center with a bucket of refrigerator magnets. One set of each was enough to keep students working for 15 minutes.
You could also print small bundles of words and photocopy them for individual students.
A great activity to engage students with hands-on materials while reviewing important Dolch Words.
Includes all
pre-primer, primer, first, second and third grade Dolch Words.
Note: Be aware that you will need manipulative letters such as refrigerator magnets, letter tiles, etc.
Your students clip a clothes pin over the vowel that they hear in each word pictured. Then they flip it over and see if the pin covers the dot (You use a sharpie to place the dot prior to giving to the students). Includes 88 vowel cards that can be used from year to year.
